The following students from the area were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2015 semester at Widener University in Chester, Pa.

Eleven Widener University students completed the Leadership Certificate Program offered through the Oskin Leadership Institute.

A group of Delaware Law School graduates took their oaths and were inducted into the Pennsylvania Bar recently at a ceremony unique for Delaware Law School alumni.

Disha Joshi of Philadelphia, Pa., a student in the joint clinical psychology doctorate and master of business administration program at Widener University, has been named the recipient of the General and Mrs. John H. Tilelli Leadership Fellowship.

Jonathan Blake, a senior management major at Widener University in Chester, Pa, from Goose Creek, S.C., recently won the Perfect Participant Award for the Table Talks portion of the 9th Annual National Sales Challenge held Nov. 18. The challenge was presented by the Russ Berrie Institute for Professional Sales (RBI) at William Paterson University's Cotsakos College of Business in Wayne, N.J.

Five Widener University students named to Dauntless Battalion ROTC Ranger Challenge Team

The Army ROTC Dauntless Battalion at Widener University welcomed 25 cadets from Widener this fall for one of the finest leadership training programs in the world.

Area recipients of the High School Leadership Award recently completed free leadership training through the Oskin Leadership Institute at Widener University.

Students at Widener University Delaware Law School were recently sworn in for the limited practice of law, in connection with school clinical and externship opportunities.

Several Widener University Army ROTC cadets completed leadership training courses at military bases throughout the country.

Ten Widener University students attended a summer cultural immersion trip run by the university to the Gullah/Geechee Nation along the South Carolina and Georgia coasts. The Gullah/Geechee people descended from west and central African ethnic groups whose people were brought to the New World to work as slaves on plantations.

The following students from the area were named to the President's List for the Spring 2015 semester at Widener University in Chester, Pa.

Seven Widener University freshmen have been named Apogee Scholars by the Oskin Leadership Institute at Widener for their high potential for leading change on campus and in their communities. The students are also recipients of the Widener High School Leadership Award and received a $20,000 scholarship to attend Widener.

Fifteen incoming freshmen at Widener University have been selected for the Presidential Service Corps/Bonner Leaders Program. Select freshmen are chosen each year for the Presidential Service Corps/Bonner Leader Program based on their high school academic record, commitment to serving their communities, and leadership potential. Students in the program volunteer 300 hours of service with a community partner in the city of Chester each year, and commit to an annual international service trip for alternative spring break. In addition, students participate in training and enrichment activities that help them develop leadership skills. The following incoming freshmen from the area were selected this year:

The 41st graduating class of Widener University School of Law Delaware campus received diplomas in a 3 p.m. ceremony on the Wilmington, Del. campus lawn Saturday, May 16.

The residents listed below earned their associate's, bachelor's, master's or doctoral degrees from Widener University during the annual Commencement ceremonies on May 15 and 16. The university presented degrees to August 2014, December 2014 and May 2015 graduates during the ceremonies.

The 24th graduating class of Widener University School of Law's Harrisburg campus received diplomas Sunday, May 17 in an 11 a.m. ceremony at The Forum, located in the Capitol Complex.

Six Widener University students were commissioned as a second lieutenants in the U.S. Army through the ROTC program at Widener University.

Widener University School of Law held its annual Student Awards Ceremony for the Harrisburg, Pa. campus on Tuesday, April 28. Awards were handed out in the administration building moot courtroom.

Widener University senior biology major Alicia Butko of Pottstown, Pa., is one of only 12 undergraduates from throughout the U.S. to receive a grant from the PLANTS program (Preparing Leaders and Nurturing Tomorrow's Scientists: Increasing the diversity of plant scientists), which will fund her participation in the BOTANY 2015 meeting July 25 - 29, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
