Veronica Vizzard of Havertown, Pa., graduated from Widener University on Saturday, May 17 at the top of her class. With a 4.0 grade point average, Vizzard is valedictorian of the Class of 2014.

Halbur, a senior Widener University (Chester, Pa.) history major, presented her own academic research with two peers and received a first-place award for her paper submission.

Area students studying at Widener University attended the eastern regional conference of Phi Alpha Theta, History Honors Society, held at Shippensburg University on April 5. The students presented their well-received research in the panel titled "Labor and Unionization in Pennsylvania," attended multiple research panels during the day and met and chatted with history majors and graduate students from more than 20 participating universities.
