Widener University was pleased to welcome eight students in the 2022 freshmen class who have enrolled at the university as Apogee Scholars. The fall semester began at Widener on Aug. 22. Apogee Scholars are recognized by the university as possessing significant potential for leadership that elicits positive change. The students were all recipients of Widener High School Leadership Awards, which comes with a $20,000 scholarship, awarded over four years, to attend Widener.

Widener Law celebrated the success of 20 distinguished alumni Monday, June 16 as they were admitted to the Supreme Court Bar at a hearing in Washington, D.C. Alumna Cynthia Ryan '79 stood before the nine justices of the Supreme Court and moved for the group's admission. She named each Widener Law attorney individually as the alumni rose to their feet and were welcomed into the prestigious legal group.

Daniel Hartney of Scotia, N.Y., a senior business management major at Widener University, has been named to the university' Board of Trustees at the student trustee for 2014-15.

Halbur, a senior Widener University (Chester, Pa.) history major, presented her own academic research with two peers and received a first-place award for her paper submission.

Area students studying at Widener University attended the eastern regional conference of Phi Alpha Theta, History Honors Society, held at Shippensburg University on April 5. The students presented their well-received research in the panel titled "Labor and Unionization in Pennsylvania," attended multiple research panels during the day and met and chatted with history majors and graduate students from more than 20 participating universities.

Several Widener University undergraduate students recently presented the results for their research as part of the annual celebration of Honors Week March 17 to 21.

A three-person team from Widener Law's Delaware campus was the finalist in the 51st annual Academy of Trial Lawyers Mock Trial Comp The event, at the U.S. Federal Courthouse in Pittsburgh, occurred between Feb. 19 and 21. Students Caroline Donato and Jon Landua argued the defense side of the civil trial involving negligence and wrongful death claims stemming from a fatal accident between a motorcycle and a truck. Student John Henry, who was also part of the team, served as the defendant
