Widener University, in partnership with WCAU-TV NBC10 and Telemundo62, is proud to recognize the 134 winners of the Widener University High School Leadership Awards for 2025. Over more than a decade, the university has recognized more than 1,500 students from high schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware who demonstrated leadership within their communities.

The inductees bring to 71 the total number of students who assist the university as ambassadors, championing Widener's values and legacy and communicating university hospitality to a variety of constituents.

Widener University has recognized area high school students for outstanding leadership and civic contributions. In partnership with WCAU-TV NBC10, the university's awards program has honored 160 students from high schools throughout the region for their abilities to stand up for what is right, address a wrong and make a difference in their communities or schools. Honorees gathered for a virtual award event Friday, Nov. 6 where they heard remarks from NBC10's Tracy Davidson, Widener University President Julie E. Wollman and others, including Jason LeVasseur, a leadership speaker and workshop facilitator, who gave the keynote address.

Widener University announces 2019 Apogee Scholars

Widener University was pleased to welcome 14 students in the 2019 freshmen class who have enrolled at the university as Apogee Scholars. Apogee Scholars are recognized by the Oskin Leadership Institute at Widener for their high potential to lead positive change on campus and in their communities. The students were all recipients of Widener High School Leadership Awards, and each received a $20,000 scholarship to attend Widener.

Widener University Freshmen Selected for Presidential Service Corps/Bonner Leader Program

Fifteen incoming freshmen at Widener University have been selected for the Presidential Service Corps/Bonner Leaders Program. Select freshmen are chosen each year for the Presidential Service Corps/Bonner Leader Program based on their high school academic record, commitment to serving their communities, and leadership potential. Students in the program volunteer 300 hours of service with a community partner in the city of Chester each year, and commit to an annual international service trip for alternative spring break. In addition, students participate in training and enrichment activities that help them develop leadership skills. The following incoming freshmen from the area were selected this year:
