Widener University recognizes students who earned graduate degrees

Widener University recently awarded degrees to its graduates. Ceremonies were held Thursday, May 12 and Saturday, May 14. The university provided two in-person, outdoor celebration options for graduate students who chose to participate: A drive-through ceremony May 12 where graduates were able to exit their vehicles and be recognized as they crossed a stage in front of the historic Old Main administration building. A traditional ceremony May 14 at The Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.

Widener University recognizes students who earned undergraduate degrees

Widener University recently awarded degrees to undergraduate students who completed their studies. Ceremonies were held Thursday, May 12 and Saturday, May 14. Widener's 12th-annual Summer Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Symposium was held Sept. 24, 2021. The research represented a variety of academic disciplines and showcased Widener's robust undergraduate research opportunities. Eleven students and 10 faculty advisors were honored for having the best presentations and research.

The Widener University Band is proud to announce four students performed in the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Intercollegiate Marching Band (IMB). In partnership with WCAU-TV NBC10, the university's awards program has honored 160 students from high schools throughout the region for their abilities to stand up for what is right, address a wrong and make a difference in their communities or schools. Honorees gathered for a virtual award event Friday, Nov. 6 where they heard remarks from NBC10's Tracy Davidson, Widener University President Julie E. Wollman and others, including Jason LeVasseur, a leadership speaker and workshop facilitator, who gave the keynote address.

Widener University Robotics Team Wins Big, Headed to World Competition

The Widener University Robotics Team hosted a VEX U Robotics competition on January 17-19. The event welcomed collegiate robotics teams from Rutgers University, College of Southern Maryland, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) to compete against one another to qualify for a seat at the coveted VEX U Robotics World Tournament. Widener's team placed first in the competition and received the prestigious Excellence Award. The win was the second consecutive victory for the team after previously securing a spot to this year's Robotics World Tournament at an earlier competition hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). The team will move on to compete against 1,200 of the best student-led teams from around the world to earn the title of robotics world champion this April in Louisville, Kentucky.
