Widener University nursing students recognized as Jonas Scholars

Two Widener University students earning doctoral degrees in nursing have been named as Jonas Nurse Scholars.

  • Taylor Grube has been named the Jonas Nurse Leader PhD Scholar. Grube is from Walnutport, Pa.
  • Shantia McCoy-Jones was named the Jonas Veterans Healthcare PhD Scholar. McCoy-Jones is from Wyndmoor, PA.

"We are so pleased that two Widener University nursing doctoral students were chosen as Jonas Scholars. Through their involvement in the Jonas Nurse Scholar program, they will contribute to two Jonas Center goals: developing their acumen as nurse faculty and improving veterans' health care, " said Laura Dzurec, PhD, Dean of Nursing. "Here at Widener, we are thrilled to partner with the Jonas Center to advance nursing excellence, and especially to advance the science that undergirds nursing education."

The Jonas Nurse Leaders Scholar Program supports educational development of new nursing faculty and stimulate models for joint faculty appointments between schools of nursing and clinical affiliates.
