Law student Lindsay Sewekow sworn in for the limited practice of law

2015 Feb 6

Delaware Supreme Court Justice Randy J. Holland recently administered the oath for seven law students to join the Delaware Bar for the limited practice of law. The Feb. 2 court hearing was held in connection with the students' work with the Delaware Civil Clinic and a public-service externship.

The Delaware Civil Clinic students are supervised by Associate Professor and Clinic Director Dana Harrington Conner and Catherine Zwolak Kilian, clinic staff attorney. An externship with the Community Legal Aid Society Inc will be supervised by attorney James G. McGiffin Jr.

The students include:

Lindsay Sewekow, of Medford Lakes, N.J. (8055). Seweko is participating in the Delaware Civil Clinic. She will graduate in May. She is the daughter of Richard and Margaret Sewekow of Medford Lakes, N.J.

Holland, who is a member of the adjunct faculty, told the students law is a calling, not just a job.

"When you have a law degree, responsibility transcends the accumulation of wealth. You have the keys to the courthouse door and it's your responsibility to open it for the rich and poor alike," he said. "Therefore, I congratulate you for recognizing the public service component of the law."
