Julie McLaughlin of Media participated in Global Service with Widener University President

2014 Apr 1

Committed to the belief that an education includes both fostering students' intellectual growth and developing them into socially responsible citizens, President James T. Harris III created the Presidential Service Corps (PSC) program in 2002.

The PSC receives support from the Bonner Foundation, and students commit to an annual international trip for alternative spring break. This year, they visited Belmopan, Belize, where they not only helped build classrooms, but also taught students about hygiene and clean water.

Julie McLaughlin of Media, a senior Accounting major, was one of 10 students that joined President Harris and other administrators on the global service trip in March.
