Ashley Rundell of Glen Mills Participated in Alternative Spring Break with Widener University

2015 Mar 9

Spring break often means a time for students to take a break from their studies. A number of students plan trips with friends, others however participate in Alternative Spring Break (ASB) through Habitat for Humanity.

This year over 50 students participated in ASB at Widener University. Students, faculty, and staff joined in on a number of diverse projects around the country. During their week, students participated in a range of activities from building houses for Habitat for Humanity to weatherization projects in locations including Oklahoma City, West Palm Beach, Fla., New Orleans, and Houston.

Ashley Rundell of Glen Mills, a Criminal Justice major, who will graduate in 2017, provided service in WEST PALM BEACH, FL.

Widener's ASB organization typically raises $75,000 to $100,000 a year to help fund the trips of all participants. Fundraising efforts run throughout the year and have already begun to help support 2016 trips.
