Annamarie Burns of Widener University earns leadership certificate

2017 Dec 19

Widener University congratulates its undergraduate students who recently received leadership certificates in ceremonies held on the campus in Chester, Pa.

Students earned the certificates through coursework at the university's Oskin Leadership Institute, which works to inspire and prepare them to become strategic thinkers and responsible citizens. The institute, which opened in 2011 through a generous gift from David Oskin, former chairman of Widener's Board of Trustees, provides opportunities that encourage Widener students to lead outside of their comfort zones.

Forty nine students received their Widener leadership certificate this semester, bringing the total number of certificates awarded by the institute to 260 since it first began bestowing them in the spring of 2014.

The fall 2017 recipients included:

Annamarie Burns of Bernville , PA, 19506. Burns is studying in Widener's School of Business Administration.

All recipients presented their personal leadership philosophies and the motivational stories behind them at the certificate ceremonies, which were held during the week of Dec. 4.

The certificate signifies the extra study and training each student puts into preparing for leadership - all done in addition to the regular coursework associated with their majors.
